Exit 09 will be held from the 9th to the 12th of July 2009, as always on the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad.
The upcoming festival will bring us many surprises because, as you know, what awaits us is the 10th birthday of the
best festival in Europe.
In the past decade Exit, from a student-initiated uprising against a regime that restricted Serbia’s contact with the rest of the world, has become a world-recognised festival that every year is visited by tens of thousands of people from the region, Europe and the world. The first Exit was held on the banks of the Danube river and lasted 100 days and which in 2000 offered the youth of Serbia something that in the 90’s they could only dream of. Exit 2001 was moved to the Petrovaradin Fortress and from year to year became a more seriously organized festival with some of the biggest names in the music industry taking part and yet never lost that which was most important and which makes it known worldwide today – it’s phenomenal atmosphere. Music as a means for recognizing differences while at the same time uniting them; thousands of young people ready to create and make the world around them a better place; the unusual and fairy tale-esque ambient of the middle-age fortress and more than 500 musicians on 20 stages – all make Exit what it is, ten years later.
Behind us are names like the Beastie Boys, Groove Armada, Robert Plant, Snoop Dogg, The Prodigy, Iggi Pop, Massive Attack, Moloko, Cypress Hill, Underworld, Fatboy Slim, White Stripes, Garbage, Stereo Mc’s, Slayer, Roni Size, Manu Chao, N*E*R*D, Paul Weller, Primal Scream, Sex Pistols, Richie Hawtin, Danny Tenaglia, Frankie Knuckles, John Digweed, Eric Prydz, Carl Cox, Eric Morillo, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Timo Mass, LTJ Bukem, Felix The Housecat, Sasha, Sven Vath, Deep Dish, Francois K, Tiga, Axwell, Laurent Garnier, many socially-conscious activities such as the Visa-abolishment campaigns, the fight against human trafficking as well as many non-governmental organizations, contests and now we look forward to Exit’s 10th birthday and the best festival to date.
