The prominent American TV company CNN, has included Exit in their list of 12 top festivals in the world in 2009. CNN has published an annual guide to the best festivals from all the continents, and it includes Exit, with only three other festivals from Europe.
As far as Europe is concerned, apart from Exit, there is Roskilde in Denmark, English Glastonbury, with over three decades long tradition, and the festival that is growing in popularity, Bestival at Wight island.
When it comes to North America, festivals that entered the list are Bonnaroo, proclaimed the best in the world last year by Rolling Stone magazine, than Lollapalooza that gathers over 200, 000 visitors in Grant Park, Chicago. South America is represented by Rock Al Parque, held in Columbia's capital.
Proving that Africa is becoming more interesting festival destination, are even two festivals from this continent included in this list - one of them is held in Capetown and carries the glorious name of Woodstock, and the other named Thisday, started three years ago, celebrating two hundred years of slavery abolition.
Asia is expectedly taking part with the Japanese Fuji Rock festival, that transports its visitors to the top of this mountain by ski lifts and gondolas. The second Asian festival to enter this flattering list is electronic music festival Sunburn, held at the Indian subcontinent, on its famous Goa island.
Australian all-day-and-night-long Parklife festival is circling the CNN global list named "A guide to world’s best music festivals"
Despite the world economic crisis, Exit has managed to raise a significant amount of interest outside Serbia, and by mid June, 15,000 tickets was sold in the western Europe solely. The tickets for the tenth Exit currently have the largest selling rate in Great Britain for any festival outside that country.
We are also expecting around 10,000 visitors from South-East Europe, and, year in year out, we have noticed the growth in visitors from remote destinations, such as Australia and North America. South American MTV will broadcast the special show called „Fest Jumpers“, which will, in six episodes present six European festivals, and 30,000 000 viewers will have the opportunity to see a 90 minutes long show fully dedicated to Exit Festival.
A month before the opening, staying in the new Exit camp has been confirmed by over 6,000 visitors, 80 per cent of which come from outside Serbia. Over the past two years, more than half visitors were guests from abroad, who came to Serbia from even fifty-four different countries from all over the world. According to observations of economy experts, during the four festival days last year, foreign visitors spent over 20,000 000 euros.
